About

WV Women Moving Forward brings together hundreds of West Virginians from all backgrounds and demographics statewide to confront some of the most urgent challenges unique to West Virginia women. These must be surmounted to ensure the economic future of our state.

West Virginian women discussing education barriers for womenWorking together, firm managers, poverty lawyers, homelessness advocates, government employees, higher education faculty and staff, educators, small business owners and stakeholder experts, are proposing bold ideas for disruptive, creative actions that can lead to real results. Efforts focus on:

  • Closing one of the largest gender pay gaps in the country by addressing pay equity.
  • Resolving economic barriers for women to enter or re-enter our workforce.
  • Looking at better dependent care options for working families.
  • Ensuring young girls and women have the tools and resources to reach their full potential.

In its third year as a statewide movement, women and men across West Virginia are now championing these issues. WV Women Moving Forward identified some of the most pressing issues for women, but statewide community members, nonprofits and organizations have strengthened our resolve and taken up the baton to make real changes in their local communities.
