Celebrating Equal Pay Day

The nation celebrated Equal Pay Day on March 31 - a day to recognize that, on average, women in the United States earn 80 cents to every dollar a male counterpart earns. That gap increases among black, Native American and Latina women.

We thank each of you for spearheading efforts to raise awareness of the pay equity challenges West Virginia women face, in particular the Pay Equity working group members. During these challenging times, it's even more clear we must make room for women at the highest levels of decision-making for our government, businesses and families. And when individuals and families are struggling financially, we see the significant real-life consequences of women underpaid for their work. Thank you for all you are doing to address these inequities. Your time and passion are making a difference.

Together we can inspire each other and help get the word out to those in our lives who need an extra hand right now.
