Call to Action: How to help West Virginia child care providers stay in business
Forging strategic partnerships is one way to help child care providers stay in business. West Virginia non-profit organizations, foundations and regional Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agencies can join forces to support public and private child care providers through mini grants, focusing on their specific region’s greatest needs.
For example, in the Mid-Ohio Valley region, the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, Ross Foundation and Bernard McDonough Foundation teamed up to help keep child care facilities open during these challenging times by applying for mini grants. The funding went toward First Aid/CPR training and the purchase of cleaning supplies, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), playground and activity equipment and more.
The more communities can collaborate through examples like this one, the better the chance child care businesses can remain open and parents can stay at work.
