Racial justice and election day for all women: The untold story of our past to shape our future
Inclusion, unity, equity, compassion and hope for a better future. That is what volunteers of WV Women Moving Forward work toward. Many of us have been deeply affected by demonstrations that are advocating for these same causes across the state and around the globe. Standing against implicit bias, injustice and inequities and working for real policy change moves us all forward as humans. A goal we should all share.
Yesterday marked the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage. But it must be noted that it was white women who first got the right to vote, even as black women supported the effort. As we reflect on the historic moment we are living today, take time to read about the real journey for all women to participate in election day and in protests around the country.
